Meghan Trainor and Daryl Sabara Welcome Baby Girl Via Surrogacy, Expanding Their Family
Pop sensation Meghan Trainor and actor Daryl Sabara are celebrating the arrival of their third child, a baby girl named Mikey Moon Trainor. The couple announced the happy news on Wednesday, sharing that their newest addition was welcomed via surrogacy on Sunday.
Trainor, 32, took to Instagram to share a series of heartfelt photos, capturing emotional moments with her newborn and her two young sons meeting their baby sister. “Our baby girl Mikey Moon Trainor has finally made it to the world thanks to our incredible, superwoman surrogate,” she captioned the post. “We are forever grateful to all the doctors, nurses, teams who made this dream possible.”
The “Made You Look” singer and the “Spy Kids” actor, 33, married in 2018 and are already parents to 4-year-old Riley and 2-year-old Barry. Trainor, who has been open about her motherhood journey, detailed her experiences in her 2023 pregnancy book, “Dear Future Mama: A TMI Guide to Pregnancy, Birth, and Motherhood from Your Bestie.”
Both of Trainor’s sons were born via C-section. She previously shared the challenges she faced, including baby Riley’s breathing complications and her own struggle with gestational diabetes before his arrival in 2021. Two years later, she welcomed Barry, a “big boy” who, she noted, arrived sideways.
In her Wednesday announcement, Trainor explained the decision to pursue surrogacy for their third child. She stated that after “endless conversations” with doctors, “This was the safest way for us to be able to continue growing our family.”
“We are over the moon in love with this precious girl,” Trainor added, mentioning that their sons even helped pick their sister’s middle name. “We are going to enjoy our family time now, love you all.”
Further elaborating in an interview with People, Trainor reiterated that while surrogacy “wasn’t our first choice,” it ultimately proved to be “the safest way” for them. She expressed profound gratitude for their surrogate, describing her as selfless, loving, and strong. Trainor emphasized that surrogacy offers a unique and beautiful path to expanding a family, stating, “Every family’s journey looks different, and all of them are extremely valid.”
