Fatal Shooting by Federal Agents Rocks Uptown Minneapolis, Governor Demands ICE Withdrawal

Minneapolis is once again grappling with the aftermath of a deadly encounter involving federal immigration agents, as a man was fatally shot during a struggle near Nicollet Avenue and East 26th Street. The incident, which unfolded near Glam Doll Donuts in the city’s vibrant Uptown area, was captured on video and quickly spread across social media, igniting a fresh wave of outrage and calls for federal accountability.

Eyewitness accounts and circulating video, though not yet independently authenticated, depict U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents wrestling an individual to the ground before multiple gunshots are heard.

Witnesses online reported the man appeared unarmed, a detail not yet confirmed by law enforcement. Crime Watch Minneapolis further reported the victim was shot “multiple times,” including three times in the chest, and that a federal agent was seen striking the man’s head with an unidentified object before the shots were fired.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara later confirmed the victim died from his injuries and claimed ICE officials attempted to remove local police from the scene, a request that was refused.

In a conflicting account, an official from the Department of Homeland Security told Fox News that the shooting victim was armed with a handgun, a claim that included a picture of the purported weapon shared on social media, but which has not been verified.

Neither ICE nor the Minneapolis Police Department has officially released details regarding the man’s identity, the circumstances leading to the use of force, or the number of agents involved. Emergency responders were quickly on the scene, with Fox News reporting the victim was receiving treatment before succumbing to his injuries. Unverified reports also suggested ICE agents deployed tear gas to disperse onlookers and potential protesters.

City officials took to social media, stating they were “aware of reports of another shooting involving federal law enforcement” and urged the public to “remain calm and avoid the immediate area.”

This latest shooting comes amidst a period of heightened tension in Minneapolis, following expanded federal immigration enforcement actions that have sparked widespread protests and criticism. Governor Tim Walz issued a scathing statement on X, demanding the White House withdraw ICE agents from Minnesota.

“I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it.

This is sickening. The President must end this operation.

Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now,” Walz wrote.

Senator Amy Klobuchar echoed the sentiment, writing, “To the Trump administration and the Republicans in Congress who have stood silent: Get ICE out of our state NOW.”

This incident marks the third shooting involving federal immigration authorities in Minneapolis within approximately two and a half weeks. It follows the January 7th shooting death of 37-year-old Renée Good by a federal agent during an immigration enforcement operation, an event that also fueled demonstrations and intensified scrutiny of federal practices.

Authorities are expected to release further information as the situation develops, but the community remains on edge as questions surrounding the federal agency’s actions continue to mount.
