Protester Shot in Hand During Minnesota ICE Protest

Minneapolis, MN – Disturbing footage has emerged from recent protests in Minneapolis, showing a woman in severe distress after allegedly sustaining serious hand injuries from federal agents. The video, widely shared online, depicts the woman running down a street before collapsing in apparent agony.

Witnesses quickly came to her aid, believing she had been struck by “less-than-lethal ammo” during demonstrations near Nicollet Avenue and West 26th Street. These protests were sparked by the fatal shooting of VA nurse Alex Pretti.

While less-than-lethal projectiles like bean bag rounds or rubber bullets are designed to be less dangerous than conventional ammunition, they can still cause significant harm. The footage of the injured woman appeared to show her with partial finger loss, highlighting the potential severity of these weapons.

The incident has ignited further debate and concern among community members and online users. One user on a social media platform expressed strong criticism, stating, “ICE do not have the training or legal authority to be running around with crowd control weapons using them on U.S. citizens, they are doing it anyways because fascists don’t care about what is right, wrong or legal, just their own supremacy and power remaining unchallenged.” Another user urged individuals to document such events thoroughly, both publicly and privately.

The woman’s current medical condition remains undisclosed.

This incident adds to the heightened tension in Minneapolis following the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Alex Pretti by federal agents on Saturday morning. This tragedy occurred less than three weeks after another deadly shooting involving an ICE agent and Renee Good.

In response to Pretti’s death, U.S. District Court Judge Eric Tostrud issued a temporary restraining order against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on Saturday, prohibiting them from tampering with or destroying evidence related to the shooting.

The Department of Homeland Security has claimed the agent acted in self-defense, alleging Pretti attempted to disarm him. However, Minnesota Gov.

Tim Walz has dismissed this account as “nonsense” after reviewing footage of the incident. Video evidence reportedly shows Pretti carrying a cellphone, not a firearm, when he was shot.

The footage also allegedly depicts an agent appearing to struggle with Pretti, then holding a weapon, and turning away from Pretti as the initial shot was fired.

In response to the escalating situation, Governor Walz deployed 1,500 National Guard troops to the Twin Cities over the weekend. The Sheriff’s office released a statement indicating that due to the potential for ongoing conflict related to the federal agent-involved shooting, Sheriff Dawanna Witt requested National Guard assistance to support deputies at the Whipple Federal Building, allowing for reallocation of deputies to other areas in need of support.
