Fatal Plane Crash Closes Bangor International Airport Amid Winter Storm Chaos

Bangor International Airport (BGR) remains closed today following a tragic private business jet crash Sunday night that authorities say claimed the lives of all six individuals on board. The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. local time as the jet was departing from the airport.

Bangor Police confirmed Monday morning that six people were on the flight, and all are presumed deceased. No one from the incident was transported to the hospital.

The identities of those involved are being withheld pending positive identification. This statement clarified earlier unverified reports regarding the number of passengers and their conditions.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that the jet crashed under “unknown circumstances,” flipping upside down and catching fire. This tragic event unfolded as Winter Storm Fern unleashed severe weather across the U.S., causing widespread air travel disruptions, hazardous road conditions, and extensive power outages.

Multiple emergency crews responded to the accident. The airport’s closure has resulted in numerous flight cancellations and diversions, impacting travelers already contending with widespread winter weather-related flight disruptions nationwide.
