Woods Family Golf Legacy Continues as Charlie Woods Commits to Florida State

The storied Woods family golf legacy is set to continue as Charlie Woods, son of 15-time major champion Tiger Woods, announced his commitment to play college golf at Florida State. The high school talent shared the news on Instagram with a simple, enthusiastic “Go Noles!”

Woods, who recently celebrated his 17th birthday, has been making a name for himself in junior golf circles. He currently holds the 21st ranking in the American Junior Golf Association.

His impressive junior career highlights include a victory at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in May and a remarkable hole-in-one on the third hole at TPC Sawgrass in August. He also showcased his skills with a tied-for-ninth finish at the Junior PGA Championship last August.

Golf fans have become accustomed to seeing Charlie Woods play alongside his legendary father at the PNC Championship, where the duo competed from 2020 to 2024. During this time, the younger Woods recorded his first ace in 2024, and the pair secured second-place finishes in both 2021 and 2024.

In the summer of 2024, he qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur, though he ultimately did not make the cut.

Florida State has a history of attracting top golf talent, with notable alumni including five-time major winner Brooks Koepka and 1993 PGA Champion Paul Azinger.

Meanwhile, Tiger Woods, tied with Sam Snead for the most professional wins ever at 82, continues his recovery journey after undergoing back surgery in December. His last major victory was the memorable 2019 Masters.

The golf icon has faced a challenging period with injuries, competing in a limited number of events over the past few years. He has not competed since the 2024 Open Championship.
