Whoopi Goldberg Addresses Epstein Files, Says She Was Never Involved
During Tuesday’s episode of “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg directly addressed the recent mention of her name in the unsealed Jeffrey Epstein documents, firmly denying any connection to the convicted child sex offender.
Goldberg initiated the discussion by asking for an email to be displayed on screen, stating, “In the name of transparency, my name is in the files.” The email, dating back to 2013, indicates a request for Goldberg to travel to Monaco, with “John Lennon’s charity” purportedly covering the costs.
Goldberg clarified that the email should have referred to Julian Lennon’s charity and explained that it subsequently asked Epstein if he would provide his private plane. The Justice Department document revealed Epstein’s succinct response: “no thnaks [sic].”
Fellow co-host Joy Behar emphasized Goldberg’s point, noting that “anybody can be on this list.” Goldberg echoed this sentiment, expressing frustration at being “dragged” into the narrative.
“I wasn’t his girlfriend. I wasn’t his friend,” she asserted.
When Behar playfully suggested Goldberg was “too old” for Epstein, Goldberg agreed, adding, “It was at a time, you know, where this is just not – you used to have facts before you said stuff!”
Goldberg then shifted the focus back to her own situation when Behar brought up former President Donald Trump’s presence in the files. “I’m speaking about me because I’m getting dragged,” Goldberg reiterated.
“People actually believe that I was with him, it’s like, ‘Honey, come on.’ Every man that I’ve ever been with, you’ve known about because either the Enquirer wrote about it, people wrote about this stuff.
So no, I never had this, and no, I didn’t get on the plane because you know what I would have to do to get on the plane?”
Her co-hosts humorously interjected with “fly,” prompting Goldberg to acknowledge her well-known aversion to flying. “So they’re trying to get me to get on a plane to get to this thing for Julian Lennon,” she concluded.
The co-hosts of “The View” have extensively discussed the Epstein files both before and after the Department of Justice began releasing the documents.
Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed in a letter on Saturday that all Epstein files have been released in accordance with Section 3 of the Epstein Files Transparency Act. This comprehensive list includes over 300 high-profile individuals such as Donald Trump, Barack and Michelle Obama, Prince Harry, Bill Gates, Woody Allen, Mark Zuckerberg, and Bruce Springsteen.
The Epstein Files Transparency Act, passed by Congress and signed into law by Trump in November, mandated the release of names of “all persons where (1) they are or were a government official or politically exposed person and (2) their name appears in the files released under the Act at least once.” The letter also clarified that these names appear in a “wide variety of contexts.”
