Barry Manilow Postpones Arena Tour Dates, Prioritizes Health Recovery

Pop icon Barry Manilow has announced the postponement of upcoming arena concert dates, citing an ongoing recovery from a recent health setback. The 79-year-old singer shared the news directly with fans, explaining that despite his efforts, he is not yet physically ready for the demands of a full concert tour.

In a candid message, Manilow detailed a recent conversation with his surgeon. “Just got home from visiting the surgeon.

Very depressing visit,” he shared, revealing his commitment to daily exercise and vocal practice since a previous health scare. However, he admitted to his doctor that he could only sing for short periods before needing to rest.

The medical advice was clear: “Barry, you won’t be ready to do a 90-minute show. Your lungs aren’t ready yet,” Manilow recounted his doctor saying.

“You’re in great shape considering what you’ve been through, but your body isn’t ready. You shouldn’t do the first arena shows.

You won’t make it through.”

Manilow acknowledged that he had an intuition about the prognosis. “Deep down… my body knew what my heart didn’t want to admit: I wasn’t ready.”

As a result, shows scheduled from February 27th to March 17th will be rescheduled. Manilow is optimistic about returning to the stage for his Las Vegas residency at the end of March and resuming his arena tour in April.

“When I do come back, I will COME BACK!!!” Manilow vowed, reassuring his dedicated fanbase.

He concluded his message by stating, “The doctor said that my body had been through hell and that it needed time to heal. So, I’m going back to healing.”

This decision follows a health scare in December when Manilow revealed he had been diagnosed with a cancerous spot on his lung, discovered during treatment for bronchitis. He informed fans that the spot was detected early and had not spread, attributing its early discovery to “pure luck (and a great doctor).” At the time, Manilow indicated that no chemotherapy or radiation was necessary, joking that his recovery plan included “just chicken soup and ‘I Love Lucy’ reruns.”

Manilow, known for his prolific songwriting and chart-topping hits like “Mandy” and “Copacabana,” has been a prominent figure in pop music for decades. Fans are encouraged to hold onto their tickets and anticipate his return to performing.
