Isan Elba Says “No Thanks” to Love Island’s “Humiliation Rituals”
Isan Elba, daughter of acclaimed actor Idris Elba, has firmly shut down any speculation about her appearing on the reality dating show Love Island. The 24-year-old model openly branded the show’s challenges as “humiliation rituals,” making it clear she has no intention of joining the villa.
Elba, whose parents are Idris Elba and his first wife Hanne “Kim” Nørgaard, took to Instagram to reveal she’s been invited to the US version of the competition multiple times but consistently declined the offer.
“The past few years without fail, I have been invited to go on Love Island,” she stated in a video shared on Sunday. “They have even offered for me to skip the line and go straight to the final interview.”
However, the allure of a fast track to the show wasn’t enough to sway her. “This is exactly why I would never go on Love Island.
Those challenges are a humiliation ritual. There is no way in hell I could be practically naked, making out with multiple people in front of millions of viewers.”
Elba also cited personal discomfort as a major deterrent, adding that she is “too awkward” to kiss anyone on camera, “let alone give lap dances.” Furthermore, she believes her personality isn’t suited for the show’s dynamic, jokingly stating she “couldn’t be a villa bombshell” because she’s “a man-hater.”
“There is no way that I’d be putting up with the BS that the men do on that show,” she elaborated. “I would be cussing everybody out, and that is not good for the brand. It takes a certain type of personality to go on that show.”
While Isan Elba is opting out, Love Island has a history of attracting contestants with famous family ties. The British version of the show has previously featured Dani Dyer, daughter of actor Danny Dyer, who went on to win in 2018.
Other notable contestants include Tommy Fury, half-brother of boxer Tyson Fury; Belle Hassan, daughter of actor Tamer Hassan; Gemma Owen, daughter of footballer Michael Owen; and Jack Keating, son of singer Ronan Keating. Even Rochelle Humes’ sister, Sophie, and Carl Fogarty’s daughter, Claudia, have graced the villa.
The latest season of Love Island: All Stars recently concluded on Monday, crowning Ciaran Davies and Samie Elishi as its 2026 champions.
