Fae Fans Rejoice! Sarah J. Maas Announces Release Dates for ACOTAR Books 6 and 7

Get ready, Maas-iverse! Author Sarah J.

Maas, the mastermind behind the wildly popular “A Court of Thorns and Roses” (ACOTAR) series, has finally unveiled the much-anticipated release dates for the sixth and seventh books in the beloved romantasy saga. Mark your calendars, because the next installments are closer than you think!

During her highly anticipated appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Maas dropped the bombshell news that fans have been eagerly awaiting:

  • October 27, 2026: “ACOTAR” 6
  • January 12, 2027: “ACOTAR” 7

While titles and cover art remain under wraps for now, Maas did offer a tantalizing glimpse into the structure of these upcoming novels, revealing that they will be part of a larger, interconnected narrative.

“It came out of me in a way that surprised me,” Maas told host Alex Cooper. “I like to do parts: part one, part two, part three. By the time I got to the end of part one, it was, like, 400 pages long.”

The first part of this grand story will unfold in “ACOTAR” 6, with the subsequent two parts making up “ACOTAR” 7. The fourth and final part of this epic tale is slated to be released at a later date. Maas emphasized that the books are “meant to be read as one massive, massive story,” promising an immersive experience for her dedicated readership.

This announcement provides a significant update for Maas’s legions of fans, who meticulously analyze every interview and social media post for even the slightest hint about her future projects. The last major development Maas shared was in January 2024, when she confirmed her next four books were planned, with the immediate follow-up being an ACOTAR novel.

Since her publishing debut in 2012, Maas has cultivated a sprawling catalogue of 16 books across three hit romantasy series: “A Court of Thorns and Roses,” “Throne of Glass,” and “Crescent City.” These series have garnered immense fan bases and consistently propelled Maas onto bestseller lists.

The “ACOTAR” series, often serving as an entry point into the “Maas-iverse,” last saw a new installment with 2021’s “A Court of Silver Flames.” Her most recent releases in 2022 and 2024 were part of her “Crescent City” series. In 2023, Maas secured a new deal with her publisher, Bloomsbury, adding four more books to her existing contract.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary last spring, the “ACOTAR” series first introduced readers to the mystical world of Prythian, a realm where immortal Fae beings preside over various courts, often embroiled in conflicts. The initial three books chronicled the journey of Feyre, a human girl thrust into the Fae world after killing one of their kind. Drawing inspiration from “Beauty and the Beast,” the series follows Feyre’s transformation into a Fae and her rise to become the High Lady of one of Prythian’s most formidable courts.

Maas expanded the series with the novella “A Court of Frost and Starlight” before shifting narrative focus in “A Court of Silver Flames,” which delves into the perspectives of Feyre’s resilient older sister, Nesta, and her formidable love interest, Cassian.
