Daryl Hannah Slams “Love Story” Portrayal, Calls Series “Remotely Inaccurate”

Hollywood actress Daryl Hannah has vehemently rejected the depiction of her relationship with John F. Kennedy Jr. in Ryan Murphy’s new series, “Love Story,” asserting that the show is “not even a remotely accurate representation.”

The series, which primarily focuses on the relationship between Kennedy and his late wife, Carolyn Bessette, prior to their tragic deaths in 1999, briefly touches upon Hannah’s own connection with the lawyer. The pair dated on and off for approximately five years before Kennedy began his relationship with Bessette.

Hannah has been outspoken about the series’ portrayal of her, stating that the version of her character is “not even a remotely accurate representation” of her life or her relationship with Kennedy. She specifically called the conduct attributed to her “untrue.”

In a recent piece for The New York Times, Hannah directly addressed several claims made in the show. “I have never used cocaine in my life or hosted cocaine-fueled parties,” she wrote.

“I have never pressured anyone into marriage. I have never desecrated any family heirloom or intruded upon anyone’s private memorial.

I have never planted any story in the press. I never compared Jacqueline Onassis’ death to a dog’s.

It’s appalling to me that I even have to defend myself against a television show. These are not creative embellishments of personality.

They are assertions about conduct – and they are false.”

The “Wall Street” star also warned about the potential “real-life consequences” that can arise when dramatizations use real names. “In the weeks since the series aired, I have received many hostile and even threatening messages from viewers who seem to believe the portrayal is factual,” Hannah explained. “When entertainment borrows a real person’s name, it can permanently impact her reputation.”

Hannah and Kennedy shared a lengthy relationship before he eventually married Bessette. Their connection began in the early 1980s, becoming official by the end of the decade. Their relationship, often scrutinized by tabloids, was tumultuous until they ultimately ended things in 1994, the same year Kennedy began dating Bessette.

Since the initial episodes of “Love Story” premiered on February 12th, viewers and critics alike have noted what many perceive as a negative portrayal of the “Splash” star. An opinion piece published by Vogue stated, “‘Love Story’s’ portrayal of Hannah as a whiny, coke-obsessed prima donna doesn’t quite ring true. Indeed, if I were Hannah, I’d consider suing.”

Social media users have also voiced their opinions, with one Reddit user commenting, “Watching the show all I kept thinking was damn these writers hate Darryl Hannah.” Another added, “I think the Darryl Hannah actress is horrible.

They were together a long time. He really cared for her. the show makes it seem like she was irritating.”
