Investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance Continues Amidst New Leads and Lingering Questions

Pima County Sheriff’s Department investigators are actively probing reports of suspicious activity in the neighborhood of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, who has been missing since February 1st. The investigation, now more than 47 days old, continues to yield few public answers, leaving the community and Guthrie’s family in suspense.

Authorities confirmed on Friday that investigators are “looking into reports of anything suspicious in that area,” according to a department spokesperson. However, they declined to specify whether these inquiries relate to any particular individuals or a recently vacant home nearby.

The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie from her Catalina Foothills home, an upscale suburb north of Tucson, is being treated as a suspected abduction. While new images have been obtained from Guthrie’s home security system, no new visuals of the suspect have emerged, and efforts to recover additional video are ongoing.

Furthermore, investigators have yet to confirm whether the masked individual seen at Guthrie’s front door acted alone. DNA analysis related to the case is also still underway.

Recent reports suggesting that investigators had recovered video from Guthrie’s last known Uber ride on January 31st have been downplayed by the sheriff’s office. A spokesperson clarified, “I have not been advised of additional video identified in this investigation. The sheriff said early on in the investigation that investigators had interviewed the Uber driver, and they had not been considered suspects or persons of interest in this case.”

According to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, Guthrie is believed to have been taken against her will. Her son-in-law dropped her off at home around 10 p.m. on January 31st.

In the early morning hours of February 1st, a masked man was captured on her doorstep. Her pacemaker’s last sync with her Apple devices, around 2:30 a.m., indicates a potential timeframe for her abduction, with her watch and iPhone later recovered inside the home.

Despite the ongoing efforts, authorities have not yet apprehended a suspect or located Nancy Guthrie. A substantial combined reward of over $1.2 million is being offered for information that leads to a breakthrough in this case.

Anyone with information regarding Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance is urged to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
