Eagles GM Sticks to Script: A.J. Brown Still on the Team for Now

**PHOENIX – At the NFL league meetings on Sunday, Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman maintained a measured stance on ongoing trade rumors surrounding wide receiver A.J. Brown.

When pressed by local media, Roseman consistently emphasized Brown’s current status with the team without providing further insight. **

“I understand there’s a lot of interest in the A.J. Brown situation.

I’m not hiding under a rock,” Roseman said. “But my answer to any question about A.J.

Brown remains the same: he is a member of the Eagles. That’s the perspective I’m sticking to.”

This response was notably more reserved compared to Roseman’s earlier statements in January when he praised Brown as a key asset for the team, calling him “a great player” and underscoring the team’s focus on acquiring top talent who share a passion for the game.

Brown’s dissatisfaction with the Eagles’ offense has been well documented over the last two seasons, often hinted at through social media or interviews, even during periods of team success. The receiver refrained from media engagement late last season, following a meeting with CEO Jeffrey Lurie in November where Brown committed to limiting public complaints.

Trade speculation has intensified throughout the offseason, with the New England Patriots frequently mentioned as a potential destination. Financially, the Eagles are incentivized to wait until June 1 before making any trade official, as moving Brown before then would incur a dead cap hit exceeding $40 million, compared to roughly $20 million afterward.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Brown’s future, Roseman stressed that the team’s broader roster planning remains on course. “Roster construction is guided by a larger vision that doesn’t hinge on any single player,” he explained.

Philadelphia has bolstered its receiving corps this offseason by adding veterans Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore, joining A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. While Moore and Brown share a collegiate history from their Ole Miss days, Roseman was clear that the signing decisions were based purely on player merit, not personal relationships.

“All of our moves are driven by what players bring to the team,” Roseman said. “We aren’t making decisions to do favors for anyone.”

Brown concluded the 2025 season with 78 receptions, 1,003 yards, and seven touchdowns, marking his fourth consecutive year surpassing 1,000 receiving yards since joining the Eagles. The three-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion holds franchise records for multiple seasons with over 1,400 receiving yards, underscoring his impact on the team’s offense.
