Teacher Dismissed After Repeated Inappropriate Conduct Toward Students

Jason Morgan, a New Zealand-born educator, has been dismissed from his position at an Australian boarding school following an investigation into inappropriate and highly troubling questions he posed to students. This is not Morgan’s first removal over similar misconduct.

Morgan was employed as a house assistant at St. Patrick’s College near Brisbane when concerns were raised by students, parents, and colleagues about his behavior.

Prior to this role, Morgan had worked at schools in New Zealand, where he reportedly used school discussions to ask students sexually explicit and disturbing questions. These included asking whether they would engage in sexual acts with a “seven out of 10” versus a “nine out of 10,” and more alarmingly, questions about necrophilia.

Two students eventually reported feeling uncomfortable with the nature of Morgan’s inquiries, prompting an investigation. Morgan had also been forced to apologize for making a sexual comment about one student’s mother.

Despite being dismissed from his previous roles, Morgan was able to secure new employment without St. Patrick’s College or subsequent employer Chanel College in Gladstone being made fully aware of his past misconduct. After his history came to light, Chanel College confirmed Morgan was no longer employed there or within the Catholic Education Diocese of Rockhampton.

The Teaching Council of New Zealand acknowledged the Queensland College of Teachers had been informed of allegations against Morgan but noted that any additional concerns would be handled through mandatory reporting and investigated according to established procedures.

Both schools have expressed a commitment to supporting their communities following these revelations, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding student welfare.
