Disney World Guest Claims Staff Ignored Her Medical Emergency Before Arrest

A Missouri woman has filed a lawsuit against Walt Disney World and local law enforcement, alleging negligence during a medical emergency at the theme park last year. Halen Holton claims that when she experienced severe symptoms indicating her body was “shutting down,” Disney cast members refused to call 911, and instead, she was arrested.

According to court documents, the incident took place on April 11, 2025, at Magic Kingdom. Holton was reportedly involved in an altercation after fleeing a “domestic violence” situation earlier in the day. When she began showing signs of confusion, faintness, and weakness after checking into a resort hotel, she sought help from staff and a bus driver, but her pleas were allegedly dismissed or ignored.

Law enforcement responded to reports of a disturbance, and Holton was accused of yelling in public and issued a trespass warning. When she refused to leave and resisted detention efforts, officers charged her with trespassing after warning, disorderly intoxication, and resisting arrest. Holton maintains that during the entire encounter, she repeatedly asked for medical assistance but was denied care.

Her lawsuit describes distressing conditions following her arrest, including being placed in a police car without air conditioning while feeling lifeless and fearing for her life. She also claims mistreatment at the Orange County jail, where she was stripped of her clothes, forced to use soiled toilet water to cool down, and accused of deliberately soiling herself after an “accident.” She was briefly locked in a cell after bond processing and compelled to scrub off “911 help me” written on the door.

After her release, Holton sought medical treatment at Daytona Advent Hospital. Her medical history reportedly includes organ failure, complicated pregnancies, and chronic pain. The lawsuit also notes that her sister experienced similar confusion during the ordeal.

Representatives for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and Walt Disney World have not issued statements regarding the case. The suit raises serious questions about the handling of medical emergencies and guest welfare within the park’s operations.
