“Bob’s Burgers” Star Eugene Mirman Rescued from Fiery Crash, Hospitalized with Serious Injuries

Eugene Mirman, comedian and the voice behind Gene Belcher on the hit animated series Bob’s Burgers, was involved in a serious car accident Tuesday morning in New Hampshire. His Lucid Gravity vehicle struck the Bedford Toll Plaza on the F.E. Everett Turnpike, catching fire and trapping him inside.

According to New Hampshire State Police, emergency calls reported the burning car and a trapped driver just before noon. In a remarkable turn of events, Governor Kelly Ayotte and her security team happened upon the crash scene. Alongside a trooper from her detail and two other individuals, they quickly sprang into action, pulling Mirman from the fiery wreck through a window before first responders arrived.

State Police Colonel Mark Hall praised their bravery, stating, “Certainly, their actions were heroic in what they did. Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it.” Governor Ayotte also helped by retrieving a fire extinguisher to assist at the scene.

Mirman was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Footage from the incident shows the vehicle engulfed in flames and severely damaged.

Mirman’s agent, Jay Glassner, released a statement Wednesday expressing gratitude for the swift assistance: “Eugene was in a very scary car accident. He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders and hospital staff who saved him.

He is grateful to be on the mend. At this time, we kindly ask for privacy for Eugene and his family as he focuses on recovering from his injuries.”

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.

Bob’s Burgers, a long-running Fox animated series about a quirky family running a burger restaurant, recently celebrated its 300th episode. Mirman’s character, Gene Belcher, is known for his humor and heart, qualities the actor himself highlighted last year: “It’s just a mix of warmhearted and funny and sort of grounded…

There’s a sibling camaraderie that is really lovely. It reminds me of the camaraderie on TV and movies in the ’80s.”

As Mirman continues his recovery, fans and colleagues alike are sending their best wishes to the beloved voice actor.
