Laguna Beach Police Respond to Trespassing Report – Only to Find an April Fools’ Day Prank
April 2 – Officers from the Laguna Beach Police Department were called to a neighborhood on Wednesday following a report of a person camping and drinking outside a resident’s home. Upon arrival, however, the supposed trespasser turned out to be a cleverly disguised mannequin.
The dummy, outfitted with sunglasses, a fake beard, a hoodie, and propped up with a blanket and a beer bottle, had been placed as part of an April Fools’ Day prank, according to police.
While the prank showcased some creativity, authorities reminded the public that faking emergencies or making false 911 calls is not a joke. The police department’s social media message encouraged everyone to enjoy the day safely and responsibly: “Stay safe, have fun, and don’t be a fool.”
The incident serves as a lighthearted reminder that not all reports require an urgent response-sometimes, it’s just a bit of harmless fun.
