Jenna Bush Hager Shares Update After Slipping on Today Show Prank
Jenna Bush Hager reassured fans that she is doing well following a slip-and-fall moment on the April 2 episode of Today with Jenn and Sheinelle. The 44-year-old co-host was in the middle of an April Fool’s Day prank involving a supposedly rare $20,000 cake when the mishap occurred.
During the live broadcast, Hager, joined by guest Willie Geist and digital executive editor Arianna Davis, was presenting the extravagant cake-said to be made just once a day-when the cake slipped from her hands, spilling icing on the floor. Hager then accidentally slipped on the icing and landed on her knee.
Despite the dramatic tumble, Hager quickly confirmed she was uninjured, joking, “I don’t even have a bruise.” She acknowledged some viewers’ concerns about her well-being, quipping, “At this old age, you should” worry about her body parts. “I caught myself, so no harm.”
Hager also shared a lighthearted take on the incident, noting, “If you accidentally put cake on the ground, icing is quite slippery.” She revealed that her children responded with a playful “That’s karma, bro” when shown the clip of the fall.
After getting back on her feet, Hager and Geist exchanged a cheerful “Happy April Fool’s!” Geist admitted he initially thought the fall was part of the prank and didn’t move to help immediately, saying, “I’m really sorry about that.” He realized the slip was real only after the cake fell so quickly.
The moment drew attention beyond the show, with Geist mentioning he’d heard from people who caught the incident on their phones. He praised the Today show crew for quickly cleaning up the mess and shared that guest Sharon Stone had expressed genuine concern for Hager’s well-being.
Reflecting on Stone’s worry, Hager said she assured the actress that she was “luckily” not hurt-just a bit embarrassed.
The segment ended on a playful note, underscoring the good spirits and camaraderie among the hosts and guests despite the unexpected spill.
