A tattoo artist recently shared photos of an unusual tattoo they created after receiving a rather quirky request. The client, a devoted fan of actor and filmmaker Danny DeVito, asked for his face to be tattooed in a rather unexpected spot-her right big toe.
The artist explained, “She said the only part that hurt was in the crease. Other than that, she barely felt it.” They also noted the tattoo was done for fun, saying, “It was a free tattoo for sh*ts and giggles,” and added they’d be happy to touch it up since it’s likely to fade quickly-possibly within two years.
Hints about the tattoo’s location came from the caption accompanying the post: “Danny DeviTOE by Tiney Tattoos, Montana, USA.” Sure enough, the detailed images show DeVito’s distinctive profile etched expertly onto the toe.
Reddit users were impressed by the level of detail on such a tiny canvas. One commented, “It seriously blows my mind how literally that’s just a face… glasses, nose, mouth, etc.
And yet someone out there is talented enough to take those parts and form a specific person. Let alone on someone’s goddamn toe.
Some people are so talented!”
Others echoed the admiration, with one praising the quality and another admitting the tattoo inspired them to consider getting inked for the first time.
One fan shared a personal Danny DeVito anecdote, recalling meeting the actor as a child and an amusing exchange involving a pink cup, much to their parents’ amusement.
The tattoo artist later detailed the process, sharing images of the original photo, the stencil, and the stencil applied to the toe. They described how they transformed the photo by removing color saturation and adjusting contrast to emphasize bold blacks and subtle shading. The technical details included needle size and voltage settings used during the inking.
This unusual tribute to Danny DeVito certainly showcases both the artist’s skill and the client’s dedication-proving that fandom can take some truly creative forms.
