Lauren Sanchez Faces Backlash for Dull Dress at Star-Studded Met Gala

Lauren Sanchez’s appearance at this year’s Met Gala has sparked a wave of criticism from fans, who have labeled her look as uninspired and questioned her presence at the high-profile event.

Sanchez arrived solo on the red carpet, wearing a blue satin gown featuring draped sleeves adorned with gem embellishments. Despite being an honorary co-chair alongside her husband, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Sanchez’s outfit and overall presentation drew considerable backlash.

She was among the early arrivals, joining notable figures such as Nicole Kidman and the event’s lead chairperson, Anna Wintour. This year marks a historic first for the Met Gala, as a private individual-Sanchez and Bezos-serve as lead sponsors, joining a board that includes Beyoncé, Kidman, Venus Williams, and Wintour herself.

Social media users quickly voiced their disappointment. Comments ranged from “With all that money and connections, this is laughable” to “You can buy the Met Gala, but you can’t buy style.” Others called her dress “basic” and accused her of failing to embrace the event’s “FASHION IS ART” theme, with some going as far as to say she looked “boring and tacky.”

One user remarked, “If I were a billionaire’s wife, it would be a cold day in hell before you saw me dressed like that at the Met Gala.” Another added, “Offensively boring. Like if you’re paying $10 million to force yourself into fashion culture, at least put in effort.”

Meanwhile, protests against Bezos and his wife’s involvement continued outside the event. Activist group Everyone Hates Elon staged a demonstration by leaving roughly 300 bottles of synthetic urine inside the museum hosting the gala. The stunt was intended to draw attention to Amazon warehouse workers’ struggles, highlighting the company’s alleged refusal to allow adequate bathroom breaks during shifts.

This protest was part of a larger campaign urging the public to boycott the Bezos-backed Met Gala, with signs and projections displayed throughout New York City in the days leading up to the event.

As the night unfolds, the controversy surrounding Lauren Sanchez’s look and the Bezos couple’s role as co-chairs remains a focal point amid the glitz and glamour of one of fashion’s biggest nights.
