Spencer Pratts Run for LA Mayor Splits Hollywood Supporters

Additional Coverage:

Spencer Pratt’s bid for Los Angeles mayor is stirring up quite the buzz in Hollywood, with celebrities lining up both in support of and against the reality TV star’s surprising campaign.

Known for his role on “The Hills,” 42-year-old Pratt launched his run for City Hall in January, fueled in part by frustration over Mayor Karen Bass’s handling of recent wildfires that destroyed his Pacific Palisades home. Since then, he’s been campaigning on key issues like homelessness, public safety, wildfire response, and government accountability-branding himself as a political outsider ready to shake up LA’s status quo.

Though registered as a Republican, Pratt is running as an independent in this officially nonpartisan race, emphasizing community-focused solutions over party politics. His rise gained momentum following a well-received debate performance against Bass and Councilmember Nithya Raman, as well as viral campaign advertisements.

Polls ahead of the June 2 primary place Bass in the lead, with Pratt and Raman trailing but a significant number of voters still undecided. Because no candidate currently holds a majority, a November runoff between the top two contenders is likely.

Hollywood’s reactions to Pratt’s campaign have been mixed. Among his supporters:

  • Joe Rogan expressed enthusiasm on his podcast, saying if he lived in LA, he’d vote for Pratt.
  • Conservative actor James Woods praised Pratt’s debate performance and criticized his opponents.
  • Paris Hilton publicly voiced support via social media after Pratt shared a video from his makeshift trailer home.
  • Billy Bush called Pratt “for real” and applauded his transparency and grasp of city issues during an interview.
  • Kristin Cavallari called Pratt’s run “genius” on her podcast, highlighting his outsider status and shared frustration with political corruption.
  • Fellow “The Hills” alum Audrina Patridge expressed hope Pratt could revive the LA of years past.
  • Brody Jenner defended Pratt’s intelligence and work ethic, pointing out his political science degree and experience in reality TV.
  • Adam Carolla endorsed Pratt fully, blasting what he called “failed leadership” in the city.
  • Animal rights advocate Joanna Krupa praised Pratt’s commitment to animals and transparency in government.
  • “Bachelor” star Nick Viall and DJ Kaskade also showed early support.

However, not all celebrities are on board. Heather McDonald faced backlash after cheering Pratt post-debate, with figures like Yvette Nicole Brown, Bobby Berk, and Holly Robinson Peete expressing disappointment. Pratt’s sister, Stephanie Pratt, has been one of his harshest critics, accusing him of using the campaign to stay relevant and promote his memoir, calling him “unqualified” for mayor.

Yvette Nicole Brown went further, lamenting Pratt’s fundraising success over Bass as a sign the nation is “unserious and has learned nothing.”

As the race heats up, Spencer Pratt’s unconventional mayoral run remains a flashpoint in LA’s cultural and political landscape, drawing passionate voices from all sides as voters prepare for the upcoming elections.
