Chers Family Fears Younger Boyfriends Motives as She Turns 80

Cher’s family members are reportedly worn out from repeatedly warning the iconic singer about her much younger boyfriend, Alexander ‘AE’ Edwards, amid growing concerns about their relationship.

The 80-year-old music legend, known for hits like “Strong Enough,” and the 40-year-old music executive have been together for more than four years. Despite Cher’s open displays of affection in public, those close to her are uneasy about the romance. However, family efforts to intervene have apparently ceased, as Cher appears unaware-or dismissive-of what they believe are her partner’s questionable motives.

A source close to Cher’s son, Chaz Bono, shared that the family has witnessed “one red flag after another” throughout the relationship, coinciding with Cher’s milestone 80th birthday this week.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the insider said, “Cher’s family has given up trying to convince her that Alexander isn’t acting in her best interests. She insisted he wasn’t after her money, but now he’s reportedly earning a significant amount from her new album and even has creative control over it.”

Further concerns have been raised over reports that Cher was seriously considering revising her estate plans to include her boyfriend. With the singer indicating her upcoming album may be her last before retiring from performing, those close to her fear she could end up transferring her earnings to AE, according to the Mirror.

The Sun reports Cher is excited about her forthcoming “great” tracks and recently acknowledged at London’s Lyceum Theatre that this project is “probably my last album.”

Cher has previously shown public support for AE, even after a confrontation. Following an incident where he was involved in a fight, she posted on Instagram, “I’m proud of Alexander. He didn’t start the fight against two men… He finished it, Gotta love him.”

This defense reportedly alarmed her family, with the insider telling the Daily Mail, “They were very concerned when she defended him getting into a brawl with Travis Scott because it seemed like she was condoning violence.”

Cher and AE began their relationship in the fall of 2022, reportedly meeting at Paris Fashion Week. Despite backlash, Cher tweeted at the time, “LOVE DOESN’T KNOW MATH, IT SEES,” adding that her family approved and that AE treats her “like a queen.”

The Oscar-winning star has also shared that she initially told AE she was “too old” for him after a mutual friend passed along her contact information. “I had been telling all my friends, ‘We’re too old to go out with really younger men, and I will never fall in love on text.’

So I did what I said not to do!” she revealed to People magazine.
