A 6.0 magnitude earthquake occurred south of Honaunau-Napoopoo, Hawaii, at 9:46 p.m. local time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake’s epicenter was located approximately 3.7 miles east-southeast of Honaunau-Napoopoo, near the western slopes of Mauna Loa.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has confirmed that there is no tsunami threat following the earthquake. Residents across the islands reported strong shaking, but officials have noted no immediate impacts to the nearby Mauna Loa or Kīlauea volcanoes.
