Las Vegas police: Purse snatcher caught at Paris Casino with 44 room key cards

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Walking out of the Paris Casino onto the Las Vegas Strip, a man and a woman were suddenly stopped by two police officers pointing at their purse and a bag with 44 hotel room key cards, police say the only room those would access was a jail cell.

Betty Luke, 33, faces charges including conspiracy to commit grand larceny, possession of stolen IDs, possession of stolen debit and credit cards, records said. Luke was arrested during a Metro police “purse bait” program after an influx of crimes targeting tourists, according to documents obtained by 8 News Now.

On June 8, Metro police conducted a “purse bait” operation at the Paris Casino with a pink and purple purse near plainclothes police officers on the casino floor. Around 10:30 p.m., police said they spotted Luke and a man giving each other nonverbal cues to obtain the purse, quickly grabbing it, and stuffing the purse into a black backpack, documents said…
