Las Vegas man who shot, killed mother’s boyfriend sentenced

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A judge sentenced the man who shot and killed his mother’s boyfriend during an argument last September.

Thursday morning, a judge sentenced 25-year-old Akili Porter to 12 to 33 years in prison for shooting and killing Jamere Watley. Porter will be eligible for parole after 12 years.

Police arrested Porter on Sept. 21, 2025, after his mother made multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting at the 10000 block of Mount Blackburn Avenue near North Hualapai Way and Farm Road.

When officers arrived, they found Watley suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene…
