🎖️ Henderson opens veteran wall nominations

The Gist: Henderson is accepting nominations for veterans to be added to the city’s Veterans Memorial Wall ahead of the Nov. 7 Veterans Day Ceremony. Eligible veterans must have lived in Henderson while serving.

Why It Matters: If you know a veteran who called Henderson home during their service, this is a chance to help preserve their story. The memorial already honors more than 2,000 veterans, and new names will continue adding to the community’s tribute.

🐾 Henderson offers discounted pet adoptions

The Gist: Henderson Animal Protection Services is offering 50% off adoption fees for cats and dogs six months and older through Aug. 31 as part of the Clear the Shelters campaign. Walk-in adoptions are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Why It Matters: Still thinking about adopting a pet? There’s plenty of time to take advantage of the August adoption special. The discount makes it a little easier to welcome a new furry family member while helping more shelter pets find permanent homes.
