LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis were near the end of their partnership when they celebrated with an anniversary cake at the Sands in Las Vegas in early 1955.
They were the highest-paid act in show business during the early 1950s, according to a 1951 Life magazine article. They made a big splash in Las Vegas together, and later apart. Martin was part of the Rat Pack, and Lewis made Las Vegas his home, putting on the Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon each Labor Day.
Their friendship wore out in 1956, a year after this photo was taken at the Sands. Jerry’s wife, Patti Palmer Lewis, joined them, along with another couple we don’t know.
