LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) — Clark County Environment & Sustainability is partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation to give away 2,300 trees across Southern Nevada, with an emphasis on neighborhoods affected by the urban heat island effect.
“Expanding access to trees is a powerful way to make our neighborhoods cooler, healthier and more resilient,” said Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft. “I’m proud to partner with Clark County’s Department of Environment & Sustainability and the Arbor Day Foundation to help residents obtain trees at no cost and grow our community’s green space—particularly in areas most vulnerable to extreme heat.”
Fall Fest distribution
Naft will welcome the Community Canopy Project to his annual Fall Fest at Laurelwood Park on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 2 to 4 p.m.
In addition to delivering more than 2,000 trees directly to residents’ homes, about 75 pre-reserved trees will be available for pickup at Fall Fest. An additional 25 trees will be available on-site on a first-come, first-served basis…
