Woman who called police before boyfriend shot, burned her dies, coroner says

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A woman who called police for help after her boyfriend allegedly tried to burn her with a blowtorch has died from her injuries, weeks after authorities say her teenage daughter was shot and killed in the same incident.

The Clark County Coroner reports 47-year-old Nichole Drummond was pronounced dead on Sunday. Her death was ruled a homicide. The cause of death was listed as thermal injuries and a gunshot wound to her right leg.

On August 10, officers were called to the 4500 block of Pigeon Point Court after Drummond reported that her boyfriend, identified by police as Jason Simmons, was attempting to burn her with a blowtorch while her daughter was inside the home…
