KINGMAN, AZ (AZFamily) — Drivers in northwestern Arizona could soon see faster, smoother travel between Phoenix and Las Vegas as a major interchange project reaches another milestone.
The Arizona Department of Transportation has opened the second of two new tunnels as part of its effort to build a free-flowing interchange connecting Interstate 40 and US 93 in west Kingman. The agency says the $106 million project is now 80% complete.
The new 239-foot tunnel carries northbound Beale Street traffic from downtown Kingman and I-40 as it merges onto northbound US 93 toward Las Vegas.
The first tunnel, which opened in September 2025, serves local traffic on Fort Beale Drive and spans 215 feet. The second tunnel is expected to handle the heaviest traffic…
