LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — More than 1,300 foster kids in Clark County are caught up in a bureaucratic fight between the federal and state authorities, unable to get Social Security cards that are needed for placement and health benefits.
A letter sent by Congressman Steven Horsford and U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, both Democrats, is calling on the Social Security Administration (SSA) to process pending applications.
“Once again, the people are caught up in bureaucracy,” Horsford said. “Our priority is ensuring people have access to the services they are entitled to and can live their lives to the fullest. Our foster youth are among the most vulnerable in our community and SSA’s unwillingness to acknowledge our local laws shows this Administration’s regard for Nevadans.”…
