A one-of-a-kind Las Vegas mansion built to help its owners survive a nuclear attack has found a new owner—and it sold for far less than the fortune once spent creating it.

The Underground House, a sprawling Cold War-era residence hidden 26 feet beneath the ground in Las Vegas, has sold for $4.55 million to paranormal investigator and Ghost Adventures star Zak Bagans. Bagans plans to preserve the unusual property and eventually open it to the public as a museum.

The sale price is a striking contrast to the estimated $10 million spent building the subterranean home in the 1970s. Adjusted for inflation, that construction cost would be roughly $68 million today, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal…
