LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — Clark County officials listed the manner of death of a teen found dead on a softball field near a middle school in Las Vegas as an “accident” Tuesday.
The girl, identified by officials as Evelin Casas-Hernandez, 16, was found on the campus of Harney Middle School on Nov. 7. Officials listed Casas-Hernandez’s cause of death as “blunt head and neck trauma” and included “ethanol intoxication” as another significant contributing factor to her death.
According to the National Library of Medicine , ethanol intoxication can occur from the ingestion of alcohol or non-beverage ethanol, which is present in mouthwash, cologne, and cough medicine.
Days after Casas-Hernandez was found, her mother asked for answers to what had happened to her daughter, telling reporters that Casas-Hernandez’s body was bruised.
At the time, her mother said she was unsure why Casas-Hernandez would have been near Harney Middle School but added that the teen had previously attended the nearby Las Vegas High School.
