LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A North Las Vegas man faces arson charges after he allegedly set his ex-girlfriend’s apartment on fire two days after she broke up with him, according to an arrest report.
Tajhai Clark was arrested on Jan. 2 on charges of arson, domestic violence, and burglary, records showed.
On Dec. 30, the North Las Vegas Fire Department responded to a structure fire at an apartment. When crews arrived they discovered a fire that was confined to an upstairs bedroom that had the door closed, the report said.
A fire captain also reported that the inside of the apartment was also vandalized.
The tenant of the apartment, Antionette Christopher, and her children were not home at the time of the fire. Christopher told investigators that she broke up with her ex-boyfriend, identified as Clark, whom she shared a child with two days prior to the fire, according to police.
A neighbor told investigators that she saw Clark attempting to kick in the front door of the apartment and heard banging and glass breaking. After a few minutes, she noticed smoke coming from the second floor and that Clark’s car was gone, according to the report.
