Juan Salinas with the Salvation Army said they see more people come through their doors when it rains.

It’s day shelter is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Salinas said roughly 250 people cycle in and out daily.

People like Shaun Crow, who shared Tuesday he’d been homeless for the past eight months and frequently used the Salvation Army’s shelter and resource services.

“The day shelter helps when it’s raining,” Crow said. “It helps you get collect your thoughts and emotions.”

Clients are also able to meet with case managers, do laundry, shower, charge their phones, and more.

“They got me up on my feet,” Crow said he’s taken advantage of the organization’s vocational programs and other services. “They got me money and food stamps.”
