1 dead, 2 hospitalized after crash in east Las Vegas valley

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A person is dead and a juvenile was severely injured in an east Las Vegas valley crash Saturday.

Around 7:20 p.m., police responded to a crash in the 4000 block of South Hollywood Boulevard near Desert Inn Road.

Evidence at the scene and witness statements showed that a Kia was driving south on Hollywood Boulevard at a high rate of speed and was approaching a sweeping left-hand turn.

The driver of the Kia failed to follow the turn and left the roadway, hitting several K-Barriers. The Kia overturned multiple times and came to a rest in a desert area, police said.

The driver of the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene and the two passengers, a juvenile and a 46-year-old, were taken to a local hospital for their injuries. Police said the juvenile sustained “substantial” injuries.

The driver’s death marks the 14th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction for the year 2024.
