In a shocking turn of events, a woman was discovered dead with an apparent gunshot wound in a room at the MGM Grand on the Las Vegas Strip early Monday morning.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) officers responded to the hotel in the 3700 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard around 2 a.m. after receiving a call for a welfare check.
Upon entering the room, officers encountered a grim scene and immediately called for medical assistance.
Despite their prompt response, medical personnel pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
The LVMPD is treating the incident as a homicide, and the investigation has been taken over by the LVMPD Homicide Section.
As of now, no further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting have been released to the public.
The identity of the victim, along with the cause and manner of her death, will be disclosed by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as the investigation unfolds.
