LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — An 11-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being hit and run over by a pickup truck in southwest Las Vegas Tuesday, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officials said.
Police said the collision occurred at the intersection of Cactus Avenue and Cliff Lake Street in southwest Las Vegas at approximately 7:47 a.m. There, an unidentified 11-year-old boy was severely injured when investigators said a pickup truck struck the child, who was riding an electric bicycle.
The boy, investigators determined, was riding the electric bicycle on the south sidewalk of Cactus Avenue when the pickup truck, which was initially stopped at a stop sign, turned right and struck the 11-year-old. The boy was thrown from the bike, police said, and run over by the pickup truck.
The boy was taken to an area hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries. Investigators said the driver of the pickup truck showed no signs of impairment.
The crash remains under investigation by LVMPD officials.
