On January 29, 2024, a vehicle and a motorcycle collided on Charleston Boulevard, near the intersection with Indigo Drive. The vehicles involved were a 2017 Ford Fusion and a 2023 Aprilia RS 600 motorcycle. The Ford was turning left into a private drive and crossed the motorcycle’s path. The motorcyclist was severely injured and taken to UMC Trauma.
John Kwiecien, the 57-year-old driver of the Ford Fusion, had minor injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene. The motorcyclist, a 21-year-old male, was severely injured. At the time, his injuries did not require a response from the LVMPD Fatal Detail.
On February 3, 2024, the Clark County Office of the Coroner informed the LVMPD Fatal Detail that the motorcyclist had died. This was the 19th traffic-related death in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction in 2024.
Both the Ford Fusion and the Aprilia motorcycle were significantly damaged. The accident’s exact circumstances, including the motorcycle’s speed, are under investigation by the LVMPD Fatal Detail.
