LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — Harry Reid International Airport is used to handling millions of passengers every year traveling into and out of Las Vegas, but the Monday after Super Bowl Sunday is expected to be a whole new and possibly record-setting experience.
“We anticipate it could be the busiest day ever,” said Joe Rajchel, Reid International Airport spokesman.
He said the TSA, airport concessioners, and some airlines have either extended their hours or are planning to in preparation for the expected crowds.
As many as 330,000 visitors are estimated to be in Las Vegas for the Super Bowl, according to the Las Vegas Visitors & Convention Center. While most of those people traveled by air throughout the week, it’s likely a majority will head home on Monday, making Reid International Airport a very busy place. Anyone headed to the airport should expect large crowds and heavy traffic around the airport corridor. Local drivers may want to consider alternate routes.
Rajchel said the airport is advising air travelers of its 4-3-2-1 Winning Game Plan to make sure they give themselves enough time to make their flights.
