LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — Law enforcement got a bird’s eye view of the area around Allegiant Stadium as crews took to the sky to ensure the big game went off without a hitch.
Douglas Murray, the Director of Air and Marine Operations for the Yuma Air Branch, alongside his team, was in Las Vegas to help law enforcement on the ground by taking to the sky from the North Las Vegas Airport.
Their perspective was from 800 feet above Allegiant Stadium on Saturday and Sunday, scanning the crowds with specialized cameras. Murray and his crew operate three Airbus A-Star Helicopters with specialized live camera capabilities.
“We are looking for any kind of nefarious behavior, and we are doing it with our camera systems,” Murray said. “Whatever we are looking at with our camera systems in the helicopter, the people in the mobile command center can see.”
Three Black Hawk Helicopters from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Air and Marine Operations will enforce a no-fly zone around the event. They will be redirecting any low and slow air traffic while fighter jets will be protecting from faster moving aircraft.
