LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The former executive director and a former bookkeeper of a Las Vegas-based nonprofit to help provide medical care for children are accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars for their own benefit, police allege in documents the 8 News Now Investigators obtained.
Rita Nadramia, the former executive director of the Foundation for Positively Kids; and Julie Alston, the nonprofit’s accounting clerk, face charges of theft over $100,000, records said. Both women no longer work at the organization, which helps “medically fragile and children in the foster care system,” police said.
An audit discovered the two women allegedly altered “their vacation hours to get paid additionally to their monthly salary,” totaling more than $300,000 combined, documents said. Nadramia and Alston were the only two employees with access to the nonprofit’s bookkeeping system.
Specifically, Alston was accused of stealing nearly $200,000, police said. Nadramia allegedly stole nearly $140,000.
