Police: Attempted murder suspect is 11 times convicted felon

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man arrested for a shooting that occured in January has an extensive criminal history including several current cases in the Clark County Court system and a prison record.

Charles Bell, 37, was taken into custody on Feb. 13 for a shooting that occurred on Jan. 18 and left a man severely injured. The victim was shot in the parking lot of a store which is not identified in the police report.

According to police documents, Bell and a woman parked outside the store in a black SUV, and the woman, later identified as Helen Henry entered the store and argued with a man playing slots about getting her wig back. The report said she lured the man outside to where Bell was waiting to shoot him.

Police were able to eventually identify the woman and Bell’s vehicle which was captured on surveillance video at the shooting scene. When police contacted Bell, documents said he was wearing the same blue-green jacket seen in the video.

Las Vegas Metropolitan police learned Bell was an 11-times convicted felon who served time out of Nevada on theft, burglary, and conspiracy to commit robbery charges. According to Nevada Department of Corrections records, Bell also served two years in Nevada starting in 2006 for robbery, conspiracy to commit a violent crime, and being an ex-felon with a firearm and served an additional two years in 2010 for weapon enhancement charges.
