Friends, family to honor woman found dead along Las Vegas road

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Family and friends will hold a candlelight vigil on Wednesday for a 28-year-old woman killed after police said she fell off the hood of an SUV last week.

The Clark County coroner’s office identified Alondra Rivera as the person discovered Friday night around 11:30 p.m. near Nellis and Charleston boulevards.

Rivera had allegedly been fighting with an unknown person while on the hood of an SUV, according to police.

The driver was suspected of making several stops, which may have caused Rivera to fall off and hit her head, the driver then left the scene, police stated.

Steve Newland, a friend of Rivera, admits her loss has been heartbreaking.

“She was just a good solid person, she was a good friend, and the Las Vegas community, in general, needs more people like her,” Newland said. “She’s going to be severely missed.”

Police also said they are treating the incident as a “suspected homicide.”

Rivera’s family is holding a vigil Wednesday at 7 p.m. near Sahara Avenue and Winterwood Boulevard.
