Gilbert Burns vs. Sean Brady will square off in a Welterweight contest tonight (Sat. Sept. 7, 2024) at UFC Vegas 97 from UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. At 38 years of age, Burns enters this main event opportunity in a must-win position if he’s to remain in the Welterweight title mix. The former title challenger has lost two fights in a row, and he’s acknowledged he doesn’t have very many fights left in the tank. The level of competition is not declining, however, as Brady remains one of the top young fighters in the Welterweight title mix. He’s lost just once in 17 professional fights, and that defeat came to the current champion, Belal Muhammad! In short, Burns either remained a top contender or ceded his spot to Brady.
