UNLV linebacker Jackson Woodard is happy to see the back of Matthew Sluka after the quarterback announced he will not play for the rest of the year over alleged unpaid NIL cash.
Sluka, a three-year starter at Holy Cross, claims he was promised $100,000 in NIL payments if he transferred to the Rebels ahead of this season. He swapped Massachusetts for Nevada and has started all three games this season, leading the Rebels to a 3-0 record, making a huge impact as a dual threat with 253 rushing yards.
But with the season only just begun, Sluka has played his final game for UNLV. The senior announced on Thursday he will redshirt for the rest of this season due to what he claims are unmet promises.

“I committed to UNLV based on certain representations that were made to me, which were not upheld after I enrolled,” he said in a post on X. “Despite discussions, it became clear that these commitments would not be fulfilled in the future.”
