Kate Martin’s rookie season came to an end after the Las Vegas Aces were eliminated from the WNBA playoffs by the New York Liberty on Sunday, Oct. 6. Martin, a 2024 second-round pick, only received three minutes of postseason action.
Before her WNBA career started, Martin was a big part of the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team, which made a national championship appearance in back-to-back seasons.
After Las Vegas was eliminated, Martin made her first offseason move by reuniting with her former Iowa teammate, Gabbie Marshall.
In a video posted on TikTok by Marshall, Martin picked up her old teammate at the airport. The two then made their way to surprise another former teammate of theirs, Jada Gyamfi.
Martin and Marshall caught Gyamfi off guard by showing up at her door unannounced. Gyamfi was so shocked by her friends’ surprise that she broke down in tears of joy.
Fans loved the Iowa reunion, even if it didn’t include Caitlin Clark, taking to the comment section to leave their thoughts. Even Gyamfi left her own reply on the video.
