Early voting kicks off in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — As early voting begins in Southern Nevada, Las Vegans are considering who will get their vote ahead of Election Day.

People 18 through 97, and all ages in between, cast their ballots at Desert Breeze Community Center on Saturday. It’s just one of many polling places where voters can get out and take advantage of their right to vote.

Locals took advantage of some uniquely “Las Vegas” ways to engage voters. From an ‘I voted’ stickered Sphere to a Lil Jon concert at Area 15, the entertainment capital of the world lived up to its nickname on the first day of early voting.

“What up, Cisco?” Lil’ Jon shouted while greeting Nevada Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar on stage.

Aguilar’s office supervises elections in the state of Nevada.

“Nevada is a battleground state. We’re a purple state. We’re a swing state,” Aguilar said. “Our votes are going to determine who the next president of the United States is and Nevadans need to understand the power of their vote is pretty significant.”
