Two of the top cross country runners in Nevada raced side by side over the entire course in the biggest meet of the high school season.
At the finish line, Spanish Springs senior Kambri Felsted posted a time of 18:38.1, just 0.03 ahead of Galena senior Eleanor Raker at 18:38.4, to win the girls Class 5A state cross country championship on Saturday at Veterans Park in Boulder City.
Galena freshman Gioia Coudriet, who on the 5A-North Regional, was third in 18:55.3.
Shadow Ridge won the girls team title with 63 points, Galena was second with 72, followed by Coronado (99), Carson (104) and Douglas (134) in the top five of the team standings.
Class 3A
Truckee senior Sydney McIntosh won the girls Class 3A state cross country race, posting a time of 19:45.9, while South Tahoe junior Lyla Landy was second in 20:09.0 and Elko freshman Avery Sholly was third in 20:33.5.
Truckee won the team title with 37 points, followed by Elko (57), Spring Creek (60) and Lowry (100).
Class 2A
North Tahoe had the top four finishers in the Class 2A girls state cross country race, led by junior Britta Johnson who won in 20:34.1, followed by Niki Johnson, junior, in 21:14.9; Hailey Gordon, sophomore, 21:30.8; and Alexis Hallenburg, senior, 22:01.7.
