Nathan Chasing Horse, known for his role in the 1990 film “Dances with Wolves,” is set for trial on January 13 in Las Vegas. He currently faces 21 felony charges, including sexual assault.
Chasing Horse’s attorney Kristy Holston previously said, “Since the public is so interested in this case and because only select details of the accusations have been released, we think it would be most appropriate for the State to present their evidence in a public hearing where the defense can reveal the weaknesses of the State’s case on the record in court.”
The Nevada Supreme Court dismissed Chasing Horse’s original indictment due to procedural issues, but charges were refiled, leading to a new indictment. Chasing Horse allegedly exploited his status as a Lakota medicine man to abuse Indigenous women and girls for decades.
A court document read, “Nathan Chasing Horse used spiritual traditions and their belief system as a tool to sexually assault young girls on numerous occasions.”
