Volunteers in Las Vegas valley give back on Christmas to bring families together

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Every day, volunteers with Catholic Charities prepare and provide around 500 meals for anyone who needs them. The practice continues on Christmas day, with 750 meals ready to go.

For volunteers like Humberto Trueba, it’s a little more special on Christmas.

“I’m here with the family, you know, serving the community, helping the community, which is probably the most important thing in my life right now,” Humberto Trueba said.

This is Trueba’s 8th year in a row volunteering at Catholic Charities on Christmas day. Eight years ago his mother inspired him to give back.

“At that time, my mom passed away and it was just a way to give for follow her footsteps of giving back to the community,” Humberto Trueba said. “She was, instrumental in my life, helping me out when I was young, and I just wanted to do something nice for her.”
